On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, UIC College's graphic design students had the privilege of learning from Nia Karlina, the founder of designlab_jakarta, a visual communication design firm established in Jakarta in 1998. She shared her expertise on Introduction to Packaging Design, emphasizing the importance of colors, size, shape, imagery, weight, labels, and materials.

She highlighted that 70 to 80% of purchasing decisions are made in-store, underscoring the crucial role of packaging in shaping product identity and influencing consumer behavior. This session supported students' final assignment for an upcoming project with .temu cafe, where they are tasked with designing packaging for the cafe's products.

Through her guidance, students gained a deeper understanding of how effective packaging design can elevate a brand and drive sales. Her invaluable insights have undoubtedly inspired the next generation of graphic designers at UIC College.
