On August 6th, we had the honour of hosting Mel Ahyar at our entrepreneur conference, where the theme was "Sustainability and the Creative Economy." Mel's journey is nothing short of extraordinary.
Starting with a passion for fashion while her parents encouraged a path in business and economics, Mel’s determination led her to Paris to pursue her dream. Despite initial setbacks and being placed in basic classes, her talent shone through, earning her a spot in the coveted couture program.
Returning to Indonesia, Mel faced numerous challenges, including the hurdles posed by the pandemic. Yet, her resilience and adaptability—pivoting to online retail fashion—propelled her to success. Today, she’s at the top of her field, collaborating with prestigious partners and showcasing her work on the global stage.
With 17 years in the industry, Mel underscores a powerful message: “A multitude of skills without passion is pointless.” Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the fusion of creativity with business acumen.
