In the midst of rapid digitalization, understanding and preserving Indonesian culture is an essential responsibility to be passed on to the younger generation. To strengthen awareness of the importance of cultural heritage in a globalized world, UIC College has embarked on an inspiring collaboration with the Yogyakarta Palace through the Real Client Project program.
The series of Real Client Project activities began with a Client Briefing session held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the UIC College BSD Campus. The session was exclusively delivered by Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Bendara, Chairperson of the Yogyakarta Special Region Tourism Promotion Board, and attended by approximately 220 UIC College students from various programs, including BTEC Level 2, Business, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Music, and Computing.
During her presentation, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Bendara highlighted the Yogyakarta Palace's pivotal role in preserving traditional arts, enriching local culture, and developing businesses that support sustainable tourism. She also emphasized how the Palace has successfully blended tradition with modern approaches to create a broader impact both locally and internationally.
Through the Real Client Project, UIC College students are given the opportunity to work on assignments directly guided by GKR Bendara and members of the Palace's royal court (Abdi Dalem). The project involves exploring art, culture, and business elements that will be showcased during the UIC Creative Showcase in January 2025, in Yogyakarta. This initiative aims to teach students not only about arts and culture but also how to leverage traditional heritage as a foundation for the creative economy.
The program is designed to strengthen the younger generation’s connection to Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage. By exploring the art and traditions of the Yogyakarta Palace, students are encouraged to appreciate the nation’s cultural identity while honing their professional skills in real-world scenarios.
This collaboration between UIC College and the Yogyakarta Palace is expected to inspire the younger generation to support cultural preservation while fostering innovations that remain relevant in the modern era.
